Thank you, Robbie! I think you’re a pretty awesome addition to this world, too! 🙂
Totally admire you!! May I ask, do you follow a particular training regimen? I am running the Myrtle Beach marathon and following jeff Galloway’s program…Do you walk at all during your marathons and ultras?
Hi Celina! At this point, I really don’t follow a traditional training schedule since I do so many races in both the ultra world on trails and on the roads. I’d say 90% of my yearly mileage takes place on trails in the mountains and I only gear up for specific marathons a few weeks ahead of time, where I do spend a bit more time adding in long and medium runs at or better than race pace and a speed session once a week. I let my body be my guide. If I’m really tired, I pull back and take a few days off, rest more, eat more and then jump back into regular training when I am recovered. That seems to work for me.
When I was training for my first marathon, I used Jeff Galloway’s method and loved it! I still do something similar for my ultra marathons too, since a balance of walking and running will keep the legs fresher for the long distances up to 100 miles. I wish you much success in your running and at the Myrtle Beach Marathon!
