Meridian Moonlight Run

The moon was just a faint crescent tonight in the sky as my running pals and I ventured off into the dark night, headlamps bobbing and glow-in-the-dark vests reflecting the car lights that zipped past.  I was a bit worried since I’m still very slowly coming back from my injuries, but it went pretty well. I actually felt fine at mile 4 when they asked me if I wanted to keep going for another two miles out before turning around, but decided to play it conservative and head back for a total of 8 miles instead of the possible 12 that some of the group were doing tonight. I think it was the right thing to do. Bit-by-bit, little-by-little, I’m gaining healing and pain-free running again. I don’t want to do anything stupid and mess that up now that I’m on the road to healing again.

The conversations were candid, hilarious, mocking, fun and all sorts of things that make me come back time and time again. It sometimes feels like I’m a member of a secret (really fun) club and that the conversations that happen on the path stay on the path. I run with some really cool people (yeah you know who I’m talking about each and every one of you who showed up tonight!!!!) Thanks for always ensuring that I accumulated a stack of miles and smiles by the end of the evening.

Stats: 8.01 miles. 10:22 pace. 127 ft gain. 1:23 total time. Ave HR: 178 Felt: A bit challenging but fun! All injuries seemed fine with tonight’s effort. IT band spoke up at the end a bit, but not too bad.
