Recovery run tonight of 2 miles. 2.01 miles – 21:32 time. Ave pace – 10:43.
Sometimes I think these are mentally and physically more draining to me than the long runs! The whole thing was over before I really got warmed up. My quads and hamstrings were a bit sore from Saturday’s 20 miler. I turned off the Garmin right at 2 miles and walked the last 1/3 mile home and enjoyed passed another runner. Once I got back to the house, Wayne met me outside and we sat on the bench out front and I kid you not — counted at least 6 other runners going by our home in the space of 5 minutes. I’m starting to think that when my marathon is over and I go back to maintenance running (which involves several short runs a week), that I might get to know more of my neighbors who are also joggers! That would be fun!
Fall was definitely in the air tonight. The green leaves are turning various shades of mustard gold, cocoa brown and brick red. I love the crunch of leaves under my Asics as I zip along the sidewalks and roads. Harvest season is upon many of my farmer friends. I love this time of year!
